Konrad Café

Where design tastes as exquisite as artisanal coffee.

In the heart of Luxembourg’s Old Town, where cobblestone alleys meet the pulse of contemporary life, the line between design craftsmanship and daily ritual has been beautifully blurred.

The expansion of the iconic Konrad Café is more than an architectural intervention within a historic townhouse; it is a project rooted in intimacy, texture, and a profound understanding of human interaction. At Live touch Studio, we believe that space should be experienced through all five senses. Our redesign process began with the authentic: uncovering the raw brick and ancient stone that form the very soul of the building.

A Harmonious Dialogue of Materials

The interior is a study in contrasts that speaks in whispers rather than shouts. The ruggedness of historic walls meets the precision of modernity through bespoke, built-in furniture crafted from metal and glass. On the floor, a vibrant glass mosaic unfolds like a kaleidoscope, catching reflections of light and infusing the space with an energetic, optimistic vibe.

The new bar—a centerpiece of the second phase—was realized entirely in steel and inox. It purposefully recedes into the background, serving as a restrained canvas for the riot of color provided by the glassware, bottles, and the vintage ceramics for which Konrad is renowned.

Designing for Wellbeing

In an era of digital noise, Live touch Studio champions analog comfort. We have meticulously addressed acoustics by preserving porous surfaces and integrating upholstered furniture sourced from the secondary market, lending the café a soulful, lived-in warmth. The lighting—ranging from natural streams through tall windows to intentional, warm hues of yellow and red—creates an atmosphere that welcomes a brisk morning espresso as much as a long afternoon of sketching by local artists.

"Our studio, nestled within this vibrant social hub, serves as a living testament that architecture is not merely about structures, but about the human equilibrium."

Today, Konrad Café and Live touch Studio coexist as a single organism. It is here, amidst the aroma of the city’s finest carrot cake, that we envision homes, apartments, and public spaces tailored to the most nuanced needs of our clients. We invite you to a space where design tastes as exquisite as the artisanal coffee.
